Hello,
I'm trying to spin top but my books say to not draft down the side but to draft across the top, especially as I would like to do some marled yarn with the 4 colours I have except that I don't get how to draft like this. Does anyone have any advice or videos of how to hold the fibre etc

thank you - the link is useful but actually in my book 'the intentional spinner' she says that when spinning top you should go back and forth and not down the side, except that unless I spin from the fold then I automatically draft down the side!!!!!!!!!
Is that any clearer

Excuse me, I try to understand... to go back and forth, does it mean to go from left to right and back? and going down the side, does it mean from the top to the bottom?

Back and force = va et vient.

I think it MAY mean that you have to spin back and forth with the hand handling the yarn, avoiding to move the hand holding the wool top.

yes! but "va et vient" du fil de gauche à droite sur le top ou "va et vient" mouvement de la main?... c'est ca que j'essaye de piger!

thank you for your help, le va et vient est de gauche a droite sur le top, en regardant le video I've looked at the video and Judith Mackenzie drafts across the top of the 'top' and, of course, it looks so easy, maybe I need more experience to be able to do it and I should be content with drafting from the fold...

ok Lotty, I understand now what you said!
You just have to try and try again to succeed, it's the only way I know!
From my part, when the thread is to the right and goes towards the left, I raise the left part of the top, that allows the fibers to stick towards the left, and conversely
